Effect of N - Dimethyl Amino Succinamic Acid on the Growth of Several Vegetable Crops

Abstract
Effects of N-Dimethyl Amino Succinamic Acid (B-9, Alar; Uniroyal Co.) on the growth of Allium bakeri REGEL, Lactuca sativa var. crispa L. and Solanum tuberosum L. were tested with foliage spraying.
The results were summarized as follows:
1) For the growth of Allium bakeri REGEL, B-9 retarded in the all treatments of 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000ppm. B-9 2,000ppm seemed to be promoted weight of bulb, but had no significant effect. The other treatment (5,000, 1,000ppm) retarded the weight of bulb, as compared with control.
2) On the top growth of Lactuca saliva var. crisps by the nutrient-irrigation in the sand barren land of Han-river riverside, the rate of leaves crumpled was promoted by certain levels (2,000, 5,000, 10,000ppm) of B-9. B-9 reduced the fresh weight of tops and No. of leaves, but bolting period was delayed about 7-10 days by B-9 treatment, though the experiment accomplised on the sandy barren land in summer.
The drought tolerance seemed to be promoted slightly.
3) B-9 (2,000ppm) had no effect on the formation of tuber and the weight of tuber on Solanum tuberosum L. in the sandy barren land.
